Nesting

Recently I've been nesting like crazy (can non-pregnant people even 'nest'? ) For the first two years in this apartment I never really got around to decorating it how I wanted, because after all, it's just a rental, I'm just a student, and we won't be here for long.

But now I've finally felt the urge to whip this place into more aesthetically-pleasing-shape (thanks largely, I'm sure, to all the Pinterest inspiration I've been gathering). I'm working with limited resources here; most of our furniture were hand-me-downs, and we definitely are not in the position to go replacing everything for the sake of aesthetics. I also don't have time to go op-shop and flea-market-trawling.

So it's more about finding ways to bring everything together - hence the picture-hanging frenzy I've been on recently. I've been trying to make small adjustments. Working with what we've got, and all that. And I've been finding that a few thoughtful additions (and subtractions - less clutter is better!) can go a long way.

Anyway, I guess there wasn't much point to this ramble, apart from to introduce some photos of my recent rearrangements…

I think you did really well with what you were given. And I completely understand "nesting" and not being pregnant because I get like that at least once a month! I love your lamps too, I have ones like them! -Jessica L

  6. I'm seriously jealous of how cute everything this. We're in a rental too, and everything we have is all handed down from our parents so nothing matches :(

  7. I love your pretty vanity, and wall of maps! I definitely have to style my apartment on a budget, and find that adding plants all around makes my rental feel more like home!

  14. You've got yourself a pretty neat place! I super love all the frames hanging up. I'm jealous, now I feel like doing a little fixer upper in my little home.

  15. Your decorations are so cute. I really love all of the framed maps. I'd like to decorate our place but we're moving to FL in a month, and then after 6 months we'll be moving to Boston. I want a forever home!!

  16. Thanks so much Rachel! It's so hard to make a place 'yours' when you know it's only temporary :/
